Consulting is BIG business in the corporate world, with millions of dollars spent to tackle the most difficult challenges. Consulting is vital for many business owners and executives due to the pitfalls of tunnel vision, or blinders. Often times, a third party, without a vested interest in the situation, can provide valuable insight & guidance. Many are experts in various field that have a track record of success. You've probably heard that collaborating yields more, and often, better ideas, than sitting at a desk alone with pen & paper. That is WHY consultants are sought after.
The purpose of seeking a consultant could be to gain a competitive advantage, get expert guidance on a topic, handling change management, building culture, or making a financial decision. They are equipped to diagnose the issue (your purpose) and provide you their recommendations to move toward resolution, or completion. Many consultants have a hierarchy of objectives they follow with clients.
